25 Days till Christmas

It's December 1st and time for the advent calender countdown.  This year I got this super cute idea from my friend Anne to use Christmas socks as mini stockings.  Each is number with a clothespin and filled with candies or small toys or a note with a prayer for the season.

We'll take down one each day....the last sock has a message from the Elf on a Shelf saying goodbye for another year.

The Elf on the Shelf has a note in the last sock because he of course hung them them all!

Last night after the girls went to bed the Elf came and magically hung all the socks.  When Ladybug and Bee came down the stairs this morning they were amazed to see their Elf sitting atop his work.

Our elf doesn't really have a name other than Elf on a Shelf.  I think we tried  few names when he first appeared a few years ago but nothing stuck.  He just Elf-on-a-shelf (one word).  But even though his name is generic his antics are full of personality.

Our Elf is sort of an impish character and just a teeny bit scary.  I mean the whole watching us .and reporting to Santa thing is a bit creepy and stalker-ish don't you think?

This morning he seemed to be channeling Jack Nicholson in the Shinning!

The creeper factor is not lost on the kids. We picked the girls up to take a closer look but they screeched "don't touch him"!

Oh no, never.
