Music to Watch Girls By...

 October 13, 2011

So the thing is, this blog was originally started to keep our many out of town family members up to speed about our adoption as well as share pictures and stories about the kids.

While it has grown into something somewhat more than just our family blog occasionally I must return it to its roots.

So pretty much for the Aunties and Grandmas.... here is Middle Child in his first Varsity Men's Choir Concert. He performed a total of six numbers. This was by far my favorite...because it's a classic Andy Williams song and hey I am a 60' girl AND because my son's big bass voice is featured so well....the note at the end rocked!

(For those who aren't relatives...and those who are relatives but haven't seen him in a while... Middle Child is the slouchy 6 foot 3in kid with hair in his eyes standing at the front of the group of kids to the right...and the deep voice you hear is all him.)

Black & White

 August 16, 2011

The Bee:   Mommy the black man is bad.  Brother told me.

Ladybug: And, and, and, Mommy.... you can't call them white man.  Brother said that to me.

The Bee: That's right Mommy... you have to call them  Darth Vader and Storm Trooper.

 Ladybug:  Yup that's right.

You can't make this stuff up.

In a Galaxy Far Far Away...aka Minnesota

 July 21, 2011

Aidan is not an outdoorsy kid.

Which is an understatement,

of galactic proportion.

Originally he was going to stay home but he sort of screwed up and this was his "punishment"...

A week in a cabin in the north country of Minnesota.

It's been hard on him because he would much rather be playing video games and hanging at the movies with his friends but mostly its hard because he's never really been in trouble before.  (Honestly I think this might be his first "grounding".) I almost backed off but we had to follow through to maintain credibility plus he was being a real P.I.T.A with begging us to let him off the hook.

He's been there for almost a week and apparently has not spoken.  At all.  A vow of silent protest. He's so dramatic.

Until today when he finally communicated and WROTE me this email;

"Subject: THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU WILL EVER READ

Mom its Aidan, and Nolan in spirit. The game we have been following for 3 years now, star wars the old republic just became available for pre order. While Nolan and I want to eventually get our own accounts, we want to start by deleting my wow account and transferring the funds to our new game. The only problem we have right now is that the game's pre-order (which comes with the ability to play the game months before it hits the shelves) is $173.99. I fully intend to pay for this but do not have the funds at the moment, and so I would like to create a contract where you would buy the game for Nolan and me, and we would pay it off as quickly as possible with allowance and services.

Normally you would also receive interest for fronting the money...this will be replaced by you having rights to play the game when it arrives.

While you consider this proposition, please take into consideration that I am currently in a boiling hot, overly humid, horse fly infested, HELL HOLE IN WHICH THERE IS NO ESCAPE!!!!!!"

As I said, sooooooo dramatic.

And in case you wondered,  I agreed to loan him the money (though I don't think I'll collect that "interest").

I pretty much couldn't say no after Dart sent a picture showing Aidan looking grossly hot, with a pitifully small fish that he apparently caught with a make shift fishing pole made from a clothes hanger.

I DO believe we have crossed over to cruel and unusual punishment

the force is strong...your fishing skills...not so much.

My Driveway Runith Over

 March 2, 2011

crap on second thought maybe "runith over" isn't exactly a term I want to use...

I have waited a long time to post this picture.

16 years, one month and 12 days.

Which is a month and 12 days longer than I thought it would take.

But yesterday after THREE tries Aidan finally passed his drivers test.

Relief.  Aidan sporting a rare smile for the camera. He finally has a license to drive the Scion XB he got for his 16th birthday.
It has not been easy to be Aidan these past several weeks.

Let's just say with the Printy boys there isn't a whole lot of support and sensitivity with this sort of thing.

The Brothers Printy really are can be sweet and kind to others but they can be are less than merciful with each other.

Aidan's a good sport and he has taken the abuse in his usual nonchalant, good humored way, never really seeming too bothered by the whole thing.

Or at least he wouldn't give his brothers the satisfaction.

Still he is a 16 year old boy.

He wants to drive.

Because.... he wants to date.

Which requires a car since as he has pointed out to me, it's pretty lame to have your mom drive you to the movies.

So it is done now.

A new era begun.

He drove to school this morning by himself.

gulp.

It's always a little scary when your child first starts driving on their own but despite his (ahem) delay, I think pray Aidan will be a very safe driver.

And at least for a while we'll be happy to enjoy the new driver perks.

Like not having to drive to the store when we run out of milk.

feeling bad for me, the mom of a new driver? A vote would make me feel better!
